Choosing the right rug size matters as much as choosing the design. These are practical suggestions, not fixed rules: measure your space and check the available size on each product.
Quick room-by-room guide
Living room and dining area
For a compact seating area consider 120 × 180 cm; for a medium space 150 × 225 cm; for a larger layout 200 × 300 cm. Check your sofa layout and, where practical, place the front sofa legs on the rug. For dining, make sure chairs remain on the rug when pulled away from the table.
Bedroom
Sizes 120 × 180, 150 × 225 and 200 × 300 cm create different amounts of visible rug space around your bed. Measure the bed width and desired exposed area on each side.
Hallway, entryway and kitchen
For entryways and smaller areas, consider 45 × 90, 60 × 120 or 80 × 120 cm. The 100 × 200 and 100 × 300 cm formats may suit longer spaces where the width allows. Check door clearance and leave room around the sides.
